About

Founded in 2019 by Jennifer Niles and Furman Haynes and incubated by CityBridge Education, CityWorks DC is a leading collaborator in the DC education-to-employment ecosystem. Led by Niles, DC's former Deputy Mayor for Education, CityWorks DC's mission is to dramatically improve the early career outcomes of DC youth and young adults of color by creating innovative programs and mobilizing employers, educators, and city leaders to develop a local, diverse talent pipeline. CityWorks DC seeks to ensure that young people have paid, relevant work experience, acquire industry-valued credentials, and build social capital to have meaningful careers that enable them to thrive.

CityWorks DC's innovative programs work directly with young people to help them launch family-sustaining careers, create personal wealth, and drive economic growth.  CityWorks DC's systems change initiatives to create the enabling conditions necessary for a local talent pipeline to succeed.

No entity can make these system changes alone. We're proud to work with our employer, school, government, non-profit, and philanthropic partners and are grateful for their dedication to our vision.
