CityWorks DC Launches as Independent Nonprofit
On behalf of CityWorks DC, I’m proud to share some exciting news with you today. After a successful incubation period with CityBridge Education, CityWorks DC has officially launched as an independent nonprofit organization!
This is a huge milestone that all of us at CityWorks DC have been looking forward to ever since we began three years ago as a project of CityBridge. We’re incredibly grateful they saw the value in our organization as part of their mission to incubate projects centered on equity-driven innovation. We truly could not have done this without their guidance and support over the years, and I want to personally express my gratitude to Katherine, Rachel, and the rest of CityBridge.
I want to be clear about what this means. Nothing will change for any of our partners and projects. In fact, we’ve reached this milestone because of our strength. We’ve built the staff, fundraising, strategy, and programs needed to maintain our current work together –– and with this shift, we now have the opportunity to increase our impact.
We have the good fortune of joining a long list of organizations successfully fostered by CityBridge. So while they will no longer be our incubator, CityBridge will be our champion, cheering us along as we move forward into this next chapter.
We want to thank each of you for your support over the last three years, especially our funders who have provided us with the resources to make this happen. Each of you has bought into our mission: to dramatically improve the early career outcomes of DC youth and youth of color. We will continue that mission by growing impactful, innovative programs and by mobilizing employers, educators, and city leaders to create an employer-driven, local, equitable talent pipeline.
Thank you as always for being a part of our community.
